We must recognize the fact that 2023 was a challenging year in many respects. Coming off an ugly market in both stocks and bonds, everyone was worrying and planning for the recession everyone expected. Three major investment banks declared you should sell stocks, buy Treasuries, and buy Chinese stocks. The Wall Street consensus was wrong again.
Then we had several banks collapse in March after their fixed income portfolios suffered significant losses as a result of the rapid rise in interest rates, we witnessed in 2022. China, the world’s second largest economy, experienced a real estate crisis which sent their stock market down due to fears of deflation. Look at this chart from our research partners at Birinyi Associates, Inc.
In the meantime, Eagle Capital was engaged in an adventure that will change the landscape of Wealth Management for our clients and our area. We were the first advisory team in the United States to cross “The Delaware” into the Hybrid RIA with Concurrent Advisors. Congratulations are in order for the Eagle Capital team due to the way they grabbed the bull by the horns and conquered the transition. You are certainly aware of this because you went through it with us, and we thank you for your loyalty and trust.
We now have two custodians, Fidelity Investments and Charles Schwab, and multiple platforms available for us to serve you and your family. During all of this, we were wrapping up our expansion and renovation of the 2nd floor of the Glover Crim Building, which was a little over 2 years in the making. Here are a couple of pictures from the Eagle’s Nest.
To top this all off, we were recognized by the Longview News-Journal’s Best of East Texas for the 4th year in a row. William was honored as Best Wealth Management Advisor and Eagle Capital as Best Wealth Management Firm. William was also recognized by M. Roberts Media in their 40 Under 40 rankings as the Best Financial Advisor in East Texas for the second year in a row.
As we move into 2024 together, we are excited about what lies in front of us as an organization. February 22 marks our 5th year of independence and you will be hearing more about that next month. We are proud of our team, and we look forward to serving you and your family for years to come.
